The one tunnel that was started by the South Penn and not used by the turnpike is this Allegheny Rairoad tunnel at the 122.3 to the 123.4 mile marker. The railroad tunnel is still viewable as seen in this photo. The west portal is closed off. The tunnel roof is considered to be unstable for work to be done in it.
